Gran Bretaña
Three countries linked by shared histories and stunning landscapes
Britain is made up of England, Scotland, and Wales, three ancient kingdoms that are today part of the United Kingdom (Northern Ireland is the final member of the U.K.). It might be small, but thanks to its history and landscape it consistently ranks among the top destinations for travelers across the globe. Yes, the weather can be a little damp, but the summer brings with it sunshine and long evenings. And the food is really rather good now, with gastropubs and delis sprouting up everywhere from villages to cities.
London is still Europe’s center of cool, and the once-grim industrial cities up north—such as Leeds and Newcastle—have been reborn as buzzing cultural hubs. Even farther up, Edinburgh remains Scotland’s capital, both politically and artistically and reached easily along any rail tour of the British Isles.
